Halsey says prenatal vitamins made them so sick they “felt like a failure”

Prenatal vitamins are such an integral part of pregnancy that many people start taking them. before they even get pregnant. Prenatals are one of the first things your doctor gives you during your pregnancy, and you are supposed to take them every day and continue to take them even after the baby is born if you are breastfeeding. But just because they’re “good” for you doesn’t make everyone feel good about taking them – something singer Halsey understands better than most.

The 26-year-old pregnant “Graveyard” singer (who uses the pronouns she / they) talks about her pregnancy in a new interview with Seduce. They say they got very sick early in the pregnancy and prenatal vitamins played a huge role in their illness. They eventually had to stop taking them completely in order to actually maintain their health.

They say they expect a lot of criticism about choosing to stop taking them, but also express that they basically had to.

“I didn’t take my prenatals,” Halsey said in the interview. “I took them for the first two months, then the vomiting got very severe and I had to make a choice between taking my prenatals and throwing up or maintaining the nutrients I managed to eat that day.”

Prenatal vitamins are nutritional supplements that help compensate for some of the nutrients that we may lack in our daily diet. Prenatal vitamins that contain folic acid are popular with pregnant women and doctors because folic acid can prevent birth defects that affect the baby’s brain and spinal cord. A varied and nutrient-dense diet during pregnancy is universally recommended, especially if you are having issues with your own prenatal vitamins.

Halsey says the prenatal vitamins made them so sick that they actually lost those precious nutrients that pregnant women need.

“I was taking so many drugs… and all these nausea and vomiting drugs,” they explained. “I went to my doctor crying, and I thought, ‘I haven’t taken my prenatal leave for six weeks. Is my baby okay? ‘ I was so angry with myself.

Halsey is dedicated to normalizing the ups and downs of pregnancy and postpartum life, as evidenced by their latest album art. It’s wonderful to see a public figure using their platform in this way.

They said they found it difficult to accept that prenatal vitamins were not working for them, and that they “felt like such a failure” that they could not take them.

I remember that I had to take prenatals in the evening with a full stomach because when I took them in the morning, I also had nausea and sometimes vomiting. The point is, we all have to find what works for us and what doesn’t, and sometimes that means making tough choices. We love Halsey for sharing this pain point of pregnancy – they sure are not alone!
