Adria Arjona’s Guide to Anti-Puffiness and Subtle Contouring Skincare
“My beauty journey has been interesting,” says actress Adria Arjona. “When I started researching and getting tested [at the dermatologist] instead of just buying a bunch of products, I started finding out what worked best for me. Her routine begins with what she calls “an old drag queen secret” thinking it may be her most controversial beauty tactic of all: the dotted line. Preparation H under his eyes to deflate when filming or after a long flight.
The fight against puffiness is at the heart of her routine: then, she places moisturizers gel patches by Peter Thomas Roth under her eyes while massaging an ice cube into her skin – a trick she learned from her mother. “It closes my pores, wakes me up and gives me a bit of contour.”
Now the 30-something is ready to do a double cleanse: “The balm [I use] has a lot of oil; with the Cleansing milk I sort of get rid of all that oil, but I still moisturize my skin,” she explains. Arjona, who stars in the upcoming Star Wars: Andor series and father of the bride remake, treats her lips with a Fenty Beauty Scrub and Brilliant Kosas before sweeping two serums over her face. “I have a bit of sun damage and hyperpigmentation…vitamin C really helps with that. It’s something I make sure I don’t overlook,” she says. After being diagnosed with dermatitis, she enjoys cleansing ingredients and formulas for sensitive skin, finishing her skincare with a NuFace treatment, sunscreen and facial mist. “Just doing this on my own, I feel better. It’s almost like meditation.
On makeup, she focuses foundation in the center of her face, gliding it on as it blends. “I don’t put foundation on my eyes because I have natural brown eyeshadow,” she notes. For the eyebrows, she bets on a Kosas pencil and Oribe styling gel—multi-purpose products are particularly useful when travelling.
Instead of a sculpted contour, Arjona opts for a subtle cheekbone shape, blending all the way to her hairline and relying on four bronzed pigments that she also applies to her lids. Her makeup is complete with a smoky wing liner, mascara, highlighter and a smudged purple lip. Hair oil, texturizing spray and a spritz of My Way Intense by Armani Beauty the scent put her on her way. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Mexico, Arjona is proud of her heritage, leaving us with a thoughtful nugget: “Can we stop being surprised by Latin American women working in Hollywood?”
